A Summers Stroll
Acrylic on canvas
Summer Stroll explores the quiet, reflective moments found along the Queensland coastline. Inspired by the interplay of light and shade beneath coastal trees, the painting focuses on the feeling of stepping from cool shadow into warm sunlight, with the rhythm of the ocean beyond.
The figure provides a sense of scale and presence, inviting the viewer into the scene and suggesting a personal connection to place. My aim was to capture not just the visual elements of the landscape, but the atmosphere, the warmth of the sand, the movement of the breeze, and the calm of a summers day by the sea.
Size: 122 × 61 cm

About Catherine Malcolm
I am a Brisbane-based acrylic artist and my work explores light, atmosphere, and a sense of place. I love painting coastal landscapes, birdlife mostly raptors, and the occasional still life, drawing inspiration from Queensland’s beautiful natural environment and focusing on the interplay of sunlight and shadow.
