The morning of battle

On first glance this piece seems to be about the brightness and hope due to the morning sunlight. However, look more deeply and you can see a glimpse of a story.
A helmet and reins hang ready for the battle ahead. Berries sit uneaten, possibly due to a nervous stomach. The candles are barely used perhaps reflecting the shortness of the owners life.

My work is focused on capturing real life, and speculative, moments that viewers can identify with.
It is my aim for the subjects of my paintings to transcend time in that the scenes I capture are both reminiscent of the past but still reflect the present.
Visually I enjoy painting with techniques that showcase the beauty of light. Especially fire light and sunlight as they have such an important influence on our lives.
