Castle In The Sky
Acrylic on Canvas
From balmy nights to vibrant street art, Townsville is a luminous place to experience, and if you scratch the surface you can discover examples of its colourful and almost impossible past.
From a large-scale act of vandalism of the heritage listed Castle Hill by ‘The Saint’ larrikins that the town embraced, to a hill that became a mountain thanks to some school kids. The iconic pink granite monolith continues to overlook its community finding a place not only in the sky and history books, but in our hearts.
Size: 92 × 92 cm

About Steve Lopez
Steve Lopez is a visual artist who explores both the physical world around him and the internal world to his memories and psyche.
Steve’s work explores moments and their meanings through still life, landscape and abstract creations. His work often plays with a bold use of colour and at times an unconventional canvas.
Inspired from ‘the everyday’, and the minute details of life, to expansive environments, it is here where he feels a sense of place and beauty can be found.
