Checking Out The Surf With Big Dog

I am proud to call Gold Coast my home and checking out the surf at Burleigh Hill is iconic and synonymous with Gold Coast, not just for me, but for so many other locals. Taking your dog to Burleigh Hill to watch the breaking barrels whilst chilling in the sun with either a coffee or beer, has been a past-time that so many locals enjoy, and Luna, being the big dog that she is, is somewhat of a local celebrity around these parts, always vying to be in the centre of attention. She is a keen observer, taking it all in. I think she wants to be out there too! I thoroughly enjoyed creating this painting. From the minute dots of reflections in the surf; to the fluffy, multi-coloured fur of Luna, it was a challenge that I feel has captured the essence and vibrancy of the Gold Coast landscape.

Karyn McDonald is an Australian artist, based on the Gold Coast.
Karyn has 35+ years’ experience as an Artist across painting (oils, acrylic, watercolour), ceramics, sculpture, drawing, jewellery and printmaking.
Combining natural talents, formal education and burning passions, Karyn has been prolific in producing a vast and diverse array of artworks covering multiple genres and styles. Karyn has created numerous pieces, with many sold to private collectors internationally, including several private commissions and has exhibited in numerous exhibitions.
Karyn holds a Bachelor of Fine Art, a Diploma in Visual Art and Contemporary Craft as well as a Bachelor of Teaching.
