Cliff Face, Springbrook
Oil
In 'Cliff Face, Springbrook', I sought to capture a landscape close to my heart, having grown up in the Gold Coast hinterland and visiting Springbrook many times from my earliest memories. The shadowed area leads the eye towards the focal point, the brightly illuminated cliff-face and the gold-green-reds of Australian forest. This piece reflects my personal connection to the area, evoking a deep sense of familiarity and reverence for the enduring magnificence and beauty of the Springbrook cliffs.
Size: 91 × 45.5 cm

About Sophie Malkin
I became a full-time professional artist in 2021, after leaving my town planning career to follow my passion, and have not looked back since!
Oil paint is my chosen medium. I love the boldness of the paint, the vividness of the colour, and the way the paint can be manipulated on the canvas to achieve any technique. My preferred style is impressionism-realism, and I often seek to create a mood or atmosphere in my work through the use of colour.
