Hosanna Smith
Flathead in the Mangroves

Oil and Acrylic

Inspired by the unassuming beauty of of the marine life inhabiting the estuaries and creeks of the Gold Coast, this piece was born out of her son Oliver's request for her to paint his beloved Flathead fish. Through this painting, Hosanna discovered a new dimension to her subject, revealing a universe of wonder hidden within its seemingly unremarkable exterior. With gratitude to her son for opening her eyes to this revelation, Hosanna presents her audience with a canvas that reflects the infinite and awe-inspiring qualities of the seemingly mundane and common fish, the Flathead.
