My recent series of oil paintings explores the playful, immersive world of swimming pools - spaces of light, reflection and nostalgia. Using vibrant colour and meticulous detail, I depict scenes featuring pool floaties and shimmering water, inviting viewers into moments of stillness, joy and escape.
I believe art should offer a sense of escapism and these works are designed to transport the viewer into a sun-drenched, almost dream-like atmosphere. In this piece, ‘Floyd’ drifts lazily across a calm blue pool, its vibrant hue popping against the cool water. The composition is both playful and serene — a celebration of leisure, colour, and the nostalgic joy of endless summer afternoons.

About Elizabeth Dodds
Born and raised in London, I moved to Australia in 2015, bringing with me a lifelong love of art, inspired in large part by my mother's beautiful landscape paintings. Although I originally trained and worked as a doctor, painting was always my creative refuge.
Working primarily with oil paints, I create detailed images from photographs, with flora, water and landscapes taking prominence. Nature's intricacies and colours captivate me and I strive to reflect that beauty and energy on canvas. I want my glistening poolside and coastal scenes and vibrant botanicals to transport viewers and transform spaces.
