“Alerted by a sudden change in light on a humid Gold Coast afternoon, I ran down onto the beach with my camera to find this dramatic scene. Massive storm clouds gathering, eerie bright light, and deep shadows ... the air crackled with electricity, and an excitement for what was to come. The awesome power of nature on show!
In this painting I attempted to capture the feeling of my experience that day using the rich bold colours and buttery textures of soft pastels.”

Susy is an Australian painter and illustrator living beside the sea. Her current art is inspired by the beautiful natural environment surrounding her home. A graduate of Qld College of Art, Susy has worked as an art maker for 40 years. She works mainly in acrylic on canvas, soft pastel, and graphite pencil.
