Miles to Go Before I Sleep

Oils on Canvas

Frost’s poem about the forest ends with ‘miles to go before I sleep’ about the promises he has made. I too have made promises both to my loved ones and myself and I think that the miles to go before I sleep will be the fulfilment of those promises as I now enter a new phase of my life of grown children. The misty forest that I inhabit and paint is a metaphor for this stage of life with obstacles, hurdles and dangers hidden and obscured but overall depicting a restful and beautiful totality.

Size: 79 × 103 cm

About Kelly Kondis

My work balances qualities of realism and impressionism exploring the organic elements and texture of the weather. I paint intuitively in oils and my landscapes are constructed over many layers with a subdued palette to represent a state of augmentation and transformation eventually arriving at immersive and sensory renderings.
