Heidi Ledwell
Morning Call

Acrylic on Wooden Panel

Heidi Ledwell’s work depicts the junction of the human built
environment and the natural environment.
The fibro shack represents the thin end of the wedge. A time when
our search for our own personal slice of paradise impacted on the fragile
coastal environment. The use of aspestos sheeting is a classic example of an
environmental disaster. At the time this material was seen as cheap, easily
transported and readily available. Now we understand the health
implications. Over time, as these shacks make way for larger develpoments
the aspestosis remnants have made it’s way into landfill and as recently
demonstrated, compost and garden mulch.
Heidi’s love of wondering has taken her to many coastal villages.
She has spent a lot of time documenting the changing face of the man built
landscape.

Size: 63 × 52 cm
