This work is the representation of a quite corner of a lake that nature claimed back, with all the beauty of water lily. When I discovered this place, it transported me back to my childhood when I saw the work of Monet in a gallery in France and I was instantly taken by the urge to put paint on canvas and recreates the feeling and emotions, the calmness,and the serenity this place brought into me. It took me a while to be satisfied with the reflections and the play of shadows on the water but I believe that the final work is a good and realistic impression of what i'd seen and felt on that day.

About Sylviane Demandolx
My name is Sylviane Demandolx. I'm a 65 years young amateur artist who came to Australia from France in 1981. For the first moment I arrived I was, and still is, struck by the vastness and colours of this amazing country. I travelled a fair bit around Australia but it's really only after I had to retire due to kidney failure in 2000, and years of dialysis and a transplant, that painting and drawing and my love for art and finding beauty around everything kept me going. There is still beauty around us ,even in this crazy time.
