One for the road!

Acrylic paint on stretched canvas

As a lifelong Gold Coast resident and self-taught artist, my work is deeply influenced by the nostalgia of 1970s Surfers Paradise.
"One for the road" captures the iconic Kinkabool building on Hanlan St, the Surfers Paradise Hotel drive-thru, and the impressively massive neon bottle of Melbourne Bitter that mesmerised me as a child.
The 1970 Valiant Regal featured in the painting holds special significance, as it was bought by my parents the day before my birth and later driven by my beloved Pop, Eric 'Inky' Davies in Toowoomba.
The Kinkabool building was once the tallest skyscraper in Australia outside of a capital city and still stands in Surfers Paradise today.
These are the tallies of Hanlan Street.

Size: 52 × 42 cm
