About Stephen Smith
Stephen Smith is a Sydney-based contemporary artist, painting urban landscape and portraiture. An instinctual self-taught artist, his painting practice follows an award-winning career as a sound designer for television and film.
Stephen’s practice observes moments of emptiness or disquiet within the constructed world, exploring how and where we live and the stories in between. Characterised by a limited colour palette, his work often responds to the personal isolation that can be hidden, or sometimes ignored, within urban and suburban environments.
