Ochre and earth mixed with impasto acrylic on canvas

Texture creates dimension, sheets of colour and organic shape reveal almost recognisable forms that give the work a sense of landscape, recognisable yet veiled. Textures are created with the use of earth and clay protruding through the paint producing a sculptural effect. The viewer encounters the rhythms of the piece, its textures, and viscosities interactively through touch, allowing for a multitude of interpretations. The artwork seeks to connect the community to the landscape by creating sensory and experiential involvement using earth and paint. I am particularly drawn to the idea of using local earth and clay as a medium in my paintings. By incorporating elements from the surrounding environment, I aim to create a sense of place and deeper connection.

Size: 101 × 101 cm
