Carmel Montague
Rolling Light

Oil on Canvas

This painting reflects a familiar view near Murwillumbah, often revisited during time spent at the Tweed Regional Gallery. Drawn to the quiet rhythm of the landscape, Carmel Montague captures the rolling fields, distant ridgelines, and winding paths that lead the eye gently through the valley.

Working in oil, she focuses on the subtle shifts of light and colour that soften the forms and evoke a sense of calm. Rather than a literal record, the work becomes a meditation on place—holding the stillness, memory, and quiet presence experienced while looking out across the Tweed Valley.

Size: 60 × 40 cm
