The Beerwah Choir
Oil on canvas
The Beerwah Choir is window in time depicting a scene as it would have been in pre-colonial Queensland. The two characters on the left are our audience, perched on a branch of a towering eucalypt, listen intently to the mesmerising laughter of our performers on the right as they serenade this ancient and pristine wilderness.
In the painting, I have attempted to capture a portal in time before the landscape was changed forever by human intrusion. Mount Beerwah, the highest of the Glasshouse Mountains stands as a silent sentinel with its rugged silhouette dominating the horizon. It’s brought to life by the enchanting melody of these beautiful and unique Australian native birds.
Size: 130 × 72 cm
