The Water Tower
Oil on Canvas
The Murwillumbah Railway Station water tower, built in the 1920s is one of only three of its kind. It has a quiet strength that anchors it in the Tweed Valley landscapes I love to paint. Partially reclaimed by surrounding growth, it sits between preservation and decline, its presence softened but still unmistakably solid.
Seeing this remarkable structure for the first time, I knew it needed to be painted. The shifting curves, changing perspectives and intricate brickwork required slow, attentive care. That process shaped the rhythm of this painting.
This piece reflects my interest in the way structures endure over time, how they weather, adapt and continue to hold space in the landscape.
Size: 43.5 × 53 cm

About Leesa Livermore
With a background in graphic design and illustration, painting is my passion and the place I feel most at home. I work mainly in acrylics and oils, inspired by the light, colours, and quiet charm of the Tweed Valley and Northern Rivers. My work celebrates the everyday beauty of my surroundings, drawing on local flora, landscapes, and architecture. I’m drawn to the small details that make a place feel lived in and loved. Through my art, I aim to create a sense of connection to place, inviting viewers to see the familiar world through an impressionistic, realistic lens.
