Waiting in a fleeting moment South of June
Oils
As a plein painter this particular bend of the river has always possessed a special semblance of meaning for me. It bears its expression of tranquility not in the grand way so many Australian scenes might, but more so in this timeless embrace of stillness, of patience and in that eternity.
I've returned to this particular place many times to paint - many more times to just sit. Resting in that interplay between consciousness of existence and the falling away of all human ego, to just exist as one with the world. It's that small space between worlds that so fascinates me, and all at once eludes me.
Size: 58 × 48 cm
