Camille Manley
Waiting for the epidural and a baby

Acrylic and oil on linen

I wanted this work to be raw, layered and to really capture the craziness of this day and the many emotions running through me. The anticipation of meeting my son, the insane thing my body was about to do, the sheer volume of tubes working their way into my arm. This captured the moment the short bursts of pain had just kicked in thanks to the oxytocin, and the realisation that once I got through this weird experience, I'd have a new little friend to hold.

Size: 62 × 83 cm

About Camille Manley

Camille is an emerging artist based in Burleigh Heads, on the lands of the Kombumerri people.
A graduate of the College of Fine Arts, UNSW (COFA), and raised on Ngunnawal country, where the bushland and Brindabella ranges formed her earliest visual language, Camille’s work oscillates between expansive landscapes and intimate, contemplative moments, distilling experiences into layered fields of colour and gesture.
She has been a finalist in national awards, and her work is held in private collections nationally and internationally.
