Iridescent Abalones
Oil on canvas
This work reflects my ongoing interest with the natural forms embedded in Queensland's coastline and reef environments. Shells and corals have always fascinated me - with their surfaces shaped by tides, weather, and time. They speak to me as quiet sculptures of the ocean, showcasing traces of movement and life. In this painting, I focus on the shell's subtle colour shifts and layered textures, using close observation to honour their complexities while inviting viewers to slow down and notice the beauty in small, often overlooked details.

About Catherine Webb
Catherine is an emerging Australian Artist whose work ranges from detailed shell studies that celebrate form and texture, to colourful abstract works that capture the energy and atmosphere of place. Trained in architecture and working full time as an Architect, she paints after hours and on weekends, drawing inspiration from the diverse environments she's lived in - from Cairns, to Brisbane and now the Gold Coast. Her art reflects a lifelong connection to nature, a curiosity for detail, and a desire to translate the landscape of Queensland into colour, movement, and memory.
