The Tree Holds
oil
The Tree Holds centres on a solitary tree standing within an open landscape beneath a shifting sky. The painting captures a moment where the weight of weather begins to ease, yet its presence still lingers across the land. A break in the cloud allows light to return, but the atmosphere remains charged, suspended between tension and release. The tree acts as a quiet anchor within this space, holding its ground against the movement above. Painted in oil with a restrained palette, the work focuses on balance rather than detail, allowing the relationship between sky, land and form to carry the image. It reflects a sense of resilience that is steady rather than dramatic, where the landscape endures without change, and the passing of weather leaves only a trace in the light and air.

About Lucinda Leveille
Lucinda Leveille is an Australian landscape artist based in the Gold Coast Hinterland, Queensland. Working primarily in oil, her practice focuses on atmosphere, distance and the quiet that follows weather. Her paintings distil the landscape to essential elements - sky, land and light - often anchored by a solitary tree or open horizon. Rather than depicting specific locations, her work explores the emotional and psychological experience of place. Leveille studied at the National Art School in Sydney and has exhibited extensively, with her work held in private collections across Australia.
