“I chose this photo for Karyn to paint because Hughie looks so relaxed on Pete’s lap. They are on the lounge in our house in Byron Bay. One of Pete’s artworks is on the wall in the background. Munro (Pete’s last dog) was added into the scene sitting up high - where he always liked to be.
Karyn’s painting gave me goosebumps and made me cry. Her insightful capturing of my husband, current dog and previous dog amazed me. She unbelievably portrayed unique aspects of a dog she had never met. We are delighted with the portrait”. (Jen Ivey)

Karyn McDonald is an Australian artist, based on the Gold Coast.
Karyn has 35+ years’ experience as an Artist across painting (oils, acrylic, watercolour), ceramics, sculpture, drawing, jewellery and printmaking.
Combining natural talents, formal education and burning passions, Karyn has been prolific in producing a vast and diverse array of artworks covering multiple genres and styles. Karyn has created numerous pieces, with many sold to private collectors internationally, including several private commissions and has exhibited in numerous exhibitions.
Karyn holds a Bachelor of Fine Art, a Diploma in Visual Art and Contemporary Craft as well as a Bachelor of Teaching.
